The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a fourth row thinning with logger select of approximately 310 acres of 23- to 33-year-old planted slash pine on John

Area One contains 41 acres, Area Two contains 95 acres, Area Three contains68 acres, and Area Four contains 106 acres. Timber to be removed from the thinning area includes every fourth row and select trees in remaining rows to reach a target basal area of 60 square feet per acre. Leave trees should be evenly spaced throughout the sale area. The target basal area per acre and/or number of trees per acre can be adjusted by the Forester-in-Charge as needed due to variations in stand and site conditions. Additional timber in the sale area to be removed will include a 15†“20-foot buffer along existing roads to widen the corridor. Sale boundaries are marked property boundaries, roads, fire lines, or wetlands. Decks and skid trails are designated with blue paint on all blocks to be thinned. Estimated volumes to be removed are 9,948 tons of pine pulpwood and 5,029 tons of pine chip-and-saw and better. This sale contractwill be for twelve (12) months.
