Place of Performance:
The U.S. Army, Army Contracting Command-New Jersey at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is conducting a market survey / sources sought notice on behalf of the Project Manager Soldier Lethality (PM SL) for a dual caliber machine gun that fires both .338 Norma and 6.8x51mm ammunition. The dual caliber machine gun should include all hardware and instructions needed to operate as a .338 Norma Machine Gun and the conversion kit to fire the 6.8x51mm XM1186 general purpose cartridge. Information on 6.8mm ammunition specifications will be provided once the included Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) has been signed and submitted to the government.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION: Interested companies who believe they are capable of providing .338 Norma Machine Guns with the ability to also fire 6.8mm XM1186 ammunition are invited to provide the Government a brief summary. The summary should include a description (no more than 10 pages -- not counting prior contract history) of the .338 Norma Machine Gun and 6.8mm conversion kit design, any supporting analysis, test results that show the weapons ability, and documentation of known technical performance risks and challenges associated with the conversion kits. Please include information on lead times to produce and deliver small quantities of .338 weapons and associated 6.8mm conversion kits (maximum of 5) for evaluation by the government. Also, please provide information on the manufacturing readiness of this design. Companies are invited to indicate their capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration video and other technical data, as well as identification of current customers. An interface control drawing of the XM1186 cartridge will be provided in support of this announcement. As mentioned above, the included NDA must be signed and submitted to the government prior to the release of any 6.8x51mm information. Please identify the subject of your response as, “Dual Caliber Machine Gun .338 Norma with 6.8mm Conversion Kit”.
