Dr. Torres ES HVAC Conversion Building C

The recommended project involves upgrading the HVAC system at Torres Elementary School. The scope shall include the removal of 29 existing evaporative coolers with their associate exhaust fan and supply/return ductwork. Then, installation of new direct expansion (DX) package rooftops units (RTUs). New duct work will be provided to serve the existing areas. All new equipment shall receive new controls. New roof curbs shall be provided for all new equipment, or the existing roof mounted equipment stand shall be modified to support the new RTUs. The existing rooms are also equipped with natural gas heating. The existing gas system shall be expanded to serve the new RTUs. Upgrading the facility’s HVAC will impact the electrical power system, the addition of approximately 3 electrical panels is assumed based on the quantity and locations of the new RTUs. The interior areas included in the renovations have a fire barrier below the roof decking. This barrier shall be removed and reinstalled as required to complete the work.
