INVITATION FOR BIDS

Sealed bids will be received from prequalified contractors at the office of the Department of Public Works

of the City of Manchester, New Hampshire before or at 2:00 P.M., prevailing time on April 25, 2024 for

the following described services:

VETERAN’S PARK SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT

FY24-500-56

The City of Manchester is accepting bids for the reconstruction of sidewalk, tree planters, and ADA

compliant curb ramps with cast iron detectable warning devices along the east side of Elm Street from

Central Street to Merrimack Street in Manchester, NH.

The Contract includes all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to perform the following work:

• Remove existing concrete and brick sidewalk;

• Construct approximately 1,500 SY of 4-Inch Reinforced Concrete Sidewalk

o Approximately 200 SY of which shall be Red Brick Stamped and Colored

• Construct four (4) ADA-compliant sidewalk curb ramps with detectable warning devices;

• Reconstruct nine (9) granite curb tree planters along Veteran’s Park;

• Reconstruct one (1) cast-in-place, concrete tree box with brick facing;

• Replace existing electric service to all ten (10) tree boxes with new conduit and pull boxes;

• Replace existing electric service to three (3) street lights and three (3) traffic signals with new

conduit and pull boxes;

• Remove and reset existing wrought iron fence along Veteran’s Park;

• Reset all related appurtenances within the area of sidewalk reconstruction;

• Incidental construction required to complete the project.

Specifications and proposal forms may be obtained on the City’s website at www.manchesternh.gov, or

may be obtained at the Office of the Department of Public Works (475 Valley Street) for $25.00 cash or

check, non-reimbursable.

A $5.00 non-refundable mailing fee will be charged for specifications mailed to any contractor. Checks

should be mailed to Department of Public Works, 475 Valley Street, Manchester, N.H. 03103.

All individuals, firms, partnerships, or corporations intending to bid must be prequalified for the project.

Those contractors who have not submitted their Annual Prequalification forms and are interested in

bidding shall be required to submit their project specific prequalification form at least five (5) working

days prior to the bid opening.

Prequalification forms may be obtained at the Office of the Department of Public Works (475 Valley

Street) for $5.00 or downloaded from the following URL:

https://www.manchesternh.gov/Departments/Purchasing/Forms-and-Documents

All checks shall be made payable to: "Department of Public Works, City of Manchester, N.H."

Bids must be completed in both words and numerals on regular proposal forms, which shall be submitted

in a sealed envelope marked: "Proposal for VETERAN’S PARK SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT, FY24-500-56",

addressed and delivered to the Department of Public Works not later than the date and time mentioned

above, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.

Bids must be accompanied by a Certified Check or Bid Bond for the amount of five percent (5%) of the

total Contract Price, payable to: "Department of Public Works, City of Manchester, N.H.", as security for

the execution of the Contract.

A Performance and Payment Bond each in the amount of 100 percent (100%) of the Contract price will be

required from the successful bidder.
