  • Summary The Downtown Economic Growth Authority (DEGA) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is seeking a qualified marketing and communications firm to partner with on the overall promotion of Downtown Kalamazoo through a consumer-facing lens. Downtown Kalamazoo is the economic hub of Kalamazoo County, and a thriving downtown is critical to the prosperity of our region.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Consultant will be expected to provide the services identified below. The items listed represent the minimum services expected to be performed. In your response to this Request for Proposals (RFP), identify other related services that you will provide, if applicable.

3.1. Brand Communications Plan: Work with the DEGA Marketing and Events Committee, City of Kalamazoo Downtown Coordinator, sponsored event manager(s), and City of Kalamazoo Department of Parks and Recreation staff to coordinate a brand communications plan, event promotion, and general marketing of the downtown to current and potential residents, visitors, business owners, and downtown workers. Monthly reporting will be submitted to the DEGA Marketing and Events committee.

3.2. Event Promotion: Provide marketing services to promote the downtown experience, including supporting existing events and attracting new events in Downtown public spaces: Arcadia Creek Festival Place, Arcadia Creek, Bates Alley, Bronson Park, South Kalamazoo Mall, North Kalamazoo Mall, Exchange Place, Farmers Alley, Michigan Avenue, Haymarket Plaza, and other arteries of the downtown.

3.3. Brand Messaging and Storytelling: Generate brand messaging and storytelling to inspire residents, visitors, property owners, and business owners to engage in our evolving and active downtown.

3.4. Design and Communications : Coordinate the design of event and district marketing materials, social media channels, and other communications.

3.5. Collaborate with Event Producers: Collaborate with event producers to ensure brand consistency and clarity, and coordinate distribution of messaging through owned channels.

3.6. Manage Media and Promotion: Manage all marketing, media, press releases, and promotion. Partner with event/tourism/business organizations to ensure maximized reach.

3.7. Digital Presence Management: Manage and update Downtown website, calendar, social media, and email newsletter.

3.8. Multi-Channel Engagement Strategy : Develop a clear multi-channel engagement strategy to reach 80% of downtown residents and workers with updated brand messages.
