Project Summary – Jesse Owens State Park Fiber Optic Cabling

ODNR seeks a qualified contractor to install fiber optic cable at Jesse Owens State Park, where a new campground and cabin area are under construction.

The project involves supplying and installing fiber optic cable, as well as terminating, labeling, and testing all connections. The conduit for each run has already been installed.

The fiber optic cable will be installed along three primary routes: from the maintenance area (Re-Veg Center) to four pedestals outside ten cabins (and into each cabin), from the maintenance area (Re-Veg Center) to the check-in building, which also houses a fire alarm panel, and from the maintenance area (Re-Veg Center) to the shower house within the campground. This project is critical to providing robust connectivity for operational and guest services.

Work for this fiber installation project is not expected to begin until June of 2025.

New:
1) Conduit pathway for Check-in building has been included (See Check-in Building - Power Plan.pdf).
2) We do not yet have any prints available showing the conduit pathways for the shower house. In each building, including the cabins, all fiber will terminate in a single area, patch panel, rack or wall-mount enclosure.
3) This is not a prevailing wage project.
4) Only LC/UPC connections shall be used.
5) As noted in the ‘Jesse Owens - Communications Optical Fiber Backbone Cabling w revisions’ document, the fire alarm installer will handle the termination of the fiber strands at the fire alarm panels, as this is a standard part of their start-up process.
