  • Summary It is the City's intent to enter a one (1) year term contract, beginning January 1, 2026, for liquid sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid. Deliveries will be made by order releases "as required" from the requesting departments/divisions. Emergency deliveries shall be made within twenty-four (24) hours of notification.

INTENT

The City of Kalamazoo Wastewater Treatment Plant requires a reliable supply of 6% minimum by volume of liquid sodium hypochlorite and 7.5% minimum by volume of hydrochloric acid for routine chemical cleaning of disc filters. The material must meet the requirements and specifications of NSF APPROVED IN ACCORDANCE WITH AWWA/NSF STANDARD #60. To ensure consistent plant operations, the City is seeking a qualified supplier to provide chemical totes of both substances up to 26 times per year per chemical.

QUANTITIES - 1 YEAR PROJECTED QUANTITIES

It is estimated that 14,300 gallons bulk liquid for both chemicals will be required per year. This quantity is not intended as a guarantee of maximum or minimum amount to be purchased under this contract; actual purchases may be more or less subject to need and availability of funding.

CONTRACT PERIOD AND EXTENSIONS

The contract shall be in effect for a one-year period, commencing on or about January 1, 2026, and expiring on or about December 31, 2026, depending upon date of approval.
