Request for Expression of Interest

Development of a Mixed-Use Community and Below Market Housing Project - Banff, Alberta

The Town of Banff invites responses to this Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of
a new mixed-use development featuring below market apartment housing, community spaces,
and public washroom facilities. The residential component will include a mix of rental and forsale
units, with pricing set below market rates. For-sale units will follow a price-restricted
model to ensure long term affordability.
The proposed community space will be designed to support food-related amenities, including a
community kitchen, food preparation and storage areas, bulk food sorting and distribution, and
space for hosting community meals. Additional complementary resources include a purposebuilt
area for family and child programming, drop-in activities, and flexible community
gathering spaces, subject to size requirements identified in our analysis of similar facilities.
Appropriately sized washroom facilities will be included for community space users.
Two additional public washroom stalls will be integrated into the project, rather than
constructed as a stand-alone structure. The two additional public stalls will be gender-neutral
and be located within the western-most building closest to the Bow River with access from
outside the building to service members of the public using the Bow River trail system and/or
Canoe Dock area
