The initial scope of work includes Advanced Planning for the renovation of and addition to the Fetzer Hall and Student Recreation Center (SRC) complex to accommodate the programmatic needs of a new Carolina Student Recreation and Wellbeing Center.

The University is ONLY SEEKING QUALIFICATIONS FOR LEAD DESIGNERS (single firms or partnerships) at this time to provide project programming, planning, overarching design, and project leadership. Subsequent separate RFQs will be issued at a future date for other disciplines to include Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, PME/FP Engineering, and Structural Engineering, amongst others as deemed appropriate with input from the selected Lead Designer. Sub-consultant recommendations are NOT to be included in the initial RFQ response.

The total project budget is anticipated to be approximately $120.0 million including full design, construction, and all associated soft costs. Upon successful completion of the Advanced Planning phase, the budget will be finalized and it is anticipated that the University will contract the selected team for full design services to include the design and construction of the proposed project.

There will be a pre-proposal meeting over Zoom on February 5th at 9:00 AM. Interested designers will be able to discuss the issues & opportunities with the University's Facility Project Manager and the facility user groups. Tours of the project site will not be hosted by UNC at this time.
