Description
Description
Subject to satisfactory performance by the Contractor and availability of funding by the Province, the Parties may agree in writing to extend this Agreement up to a maximum of two (2) additional 12-month terms. Should the option to renew be exercised it is expected that the Contractor’s bid rate or bid price in the preceding term will remain unchanged in the subsequent term, unless, in the ministry’s sole opinion, a negotiated rate change is warranted.
The specific locations for the work/service will be determined by the Ministry on an as-needed basis, and Ministry staff will only direct the successful contractor to those recreation sites or trails that it believes require the work/service.
All potential work sites are geographically located in the Kootenay-Boundary Recreation District, which encompasses the West Kootenays and west through the Christian Valley. More detailed location information, including an interactive map, driving directions, campsite descriptions, and photographs, is available online at https://www.sitesandtrailsbc.ca/search/search-location.aspx.  ; Proponents should note that access to some recreation sites and trails may require the use of a 4-wheel drive vehicle or ATV.
The work/service being undertaken in this contract will occur in areas of high public use, and therefore the Ministry is seeking a qualified, experienced and reliable contractor. The contractor must be available to provide the work/service on relatively short notice so that hazardous trees can be mitigated as quickly as possible to reduce the risk to public safety and limit the disruption to public use of the recreation sites and trails.
Time is of the essence in conducting the work within this contract, and the successful bidder must be available to conduct the danger tree assessor and falling work/service within 7 days of receiving notification from the Ministry Representative throughout the term of the agreement.
Since the work/service will be determined by the Ministry on an as-needed basis, work will not be continuous, and the bidder should expect breaks and periods of inactivity throughout the term of the contract.
Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within the Schedule A of the Specimen Contract and details included elsewhere within this RFP.
The estimated contract period will be 12 month(s).
