Contractor Services (Earthworks and Water and Sewer) – Organics Processing Facility

The Organics Processing Facility will serve as the primary site for processing materials from the city-wide green cart program and will replace the existing Compost Depot as a public waste drop-off location. The facility will process up to 40,000 tonnes a year of source-separated organic (SSO) waste, including food and yard waste, into high-quality Class A compost using an Aerated Static Pile (ASP) composting technology with a cover system. This method ensures controlled decomposition in an oxygen-rich environment, supporting the City’s waste diversion and sustainability goals.

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Site stripping
• Construction of stormwater swales
• Trenching and backfilling for stormwater and utility pipes
• Excavation for retention and detention ponds
• Rip-rap construction
• Installation of manholes and culverts
