Contract No. 1 - 1030 East Dominick Street Environmental Restoration Project

The Work of this Contract consists primarily of asbestos-containing material removal, building demolition, groundwater monitoring well decommissioning, remedial excavation and associated groundwater removal, and installation of a 1-foot soil cover at 1030 East Dominick Street in the City of Rome, New York. The site was most recently operated as an automobile maintenance and repair facility. Following removal of asbestos-containing material by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor, demolition of the onsite building and associated structures, and remedial activities specified herein, the site requires re-grading to promote positive stormwater runoff and installation of a 1-foot soil cover system.
The final cover system is to be constructed so that it functions with minimum maintenance, promotes drainage, and minimizes erosion. The design of the cover system requires a 6 inch soil layer provided with 6 inches of topsoil with vegetative cover meeting the soil cleanup objectives for cover material as set forth in 6 NYCRR Part 375?6.7(d) for commercial use. A demarcation layer is to be installed prior to placement of the soil cover to provide a boundary between the subgrade fill material and the overlying soil cover system comprised of imported fill and topsoil.
