Synopsis:
Wanuskewin Heritage Park’s primary mission is to advance the understanding and appreciation of the evolving cultures of the Northern Plains Indigenous peoples, with our vision for the site to be the living reminder of the peoples’ sacred relationship with the land. To accomplish these objectives, Wanuskewin Heritage Park offers several publicly available programs focused on aspects of Northern Plain’s Indigenous culture, including traditional games and cultural demonstrations, workshops, self-guided activities, and interpreter-guided tours. Examples of currently existing programming can be found at https://wanuskewin.com/experience/tours/.
To further our progress towards both the mission and vision of Wanuskewin Heritage Park through offering additional environmental/ecological programming, Wanuskewin is seeking consultation services to meet and consult with Wanuskewin Staff, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous Elders, educational partners and local experts through several in-person sessions regarding environmentally-focused topics for new programming opportunities (e.g., Indigenous Land Stewardship, plant/animal species and their respective ecologies, threats from climate change, and traditional uses of natural components of Wanuskewin including medicinal, culinary or recreational uses).
