SPU is offering this tour in advance of requesting qualifications from consultants to provide expertise in design of run-of-river dam modification projects, physical model studies, computational fluid dynamic studies, salmonid fish and other aquatic species biology, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, electric engineering, instrumentation & control system design, hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, marine engineering, construction cost estimation, SEPA document development and resource agency permit application support, and several other associated disciplines. The solicitation will be for a phased contract to provide support through the life of the project including options analysis, design, advertisement, construction support, and close-out.
The tour is intended to raise the level of awareness of the Landsburg facility in the consultant community in order to improve the quality of responses to the request for qualifications. It is also intended as an opportunity for potential subconsultants and prime consultants to begin communication toward forming teams with the best possible qualifications. SPU particularly seeks to encourage teams with a healthy woman- and minority-owned business enterprise (WMBE) presence and participation.
Interested consultants are encouraged to contact the project lead, Ulysses Hillard, at ulysses.hillard@seattle.gov to allow for planning to accommodate ferrying attendees into and back out of this secured, access-controlled site.
The participation of women- and minority-owned firms is a high priority cultural value of the City of Seattle and is strongly encouraged at all tiers.
