Description

New York City Economic Development Corporation (“NYCEDC”) seeks to develop its infrastructure for “BATWorks”, a premier climate hub located at Brooklyn Army Terminal (“BAT”) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, to facilitate a “sandbox” creative environment for climate tech companies to advance their innovation and generate economic opportunities for New York City. NYCEDC is pleased to release this request for information (“RFI”), which seeks responses (each, a “Response”) that can inform the use, size, and operations of a potential microgrid for climate innovation at BAT.

Through this RFI, NYCEDC is seeking Responses from parties with expertise pertinent to the development and operations of an islandable, small-scale microgrid capable of piloting and testing emerging climate technologies (each a “Respondent”, collectively, the “Respondents”). NYCEDC anticipates learning from the Responses to this RFI to inform future approaches in connection with establishing a microgrid at BAT. NYCEDC will not select a Respondent following the conclusion of the RFI process.

It is the policy of NYCEDC to comply with all federal, state and City laws and regulations which prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status and other protected category and to take affirmative action in working with contracting parties to ensure certified MWBEs (as defined below) share in the economic opportunities generated by NYCEDC’s projects and initiatives.

Companies who have been certified with the New York City Department of Small Business Services as Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises (“M/WBE”) are strongly encouraged to apply. To learn more about M/WBE certification, NYCEDC’s M/WBE program, and programs to assist M/WBE in navigating current and upcoming opportunities on NYCEDC projects, please visit https://sbsconnect.nyc.gov/certification-directory-search/ and edc.nyc/opportunity-mwdbe.
