Escambia County is seeking letters of interest for CEI for the construction of sidewalks on Lanier Drive from Creighton Road to Toni Street. This project is funded through a Local Agency Program (LAP) and must comply with all applicable rules and regulations.
As part of the ongoing Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, this initiative aims to enhance connectivity for children walking and biking to and from school. It promotes a healthy walking environment for children, adults, and the elderly, fostering safe and efficient transportation for all modes of travel. The project will provide safe, accessible sidewalk connections to schools, community centers, and transit points.
These proposed sidewalks and safe roadway crossing sites are crucial to the safety of our public and our children. A safe walking infrastructure in our county also provides a safe and secure route that children and adults need, so they can focus on their other essentials of life. To also create a healthy safe walkable community for all, thus believed there is a direct linkage between the establishment of a safe environment for all and their readiness for a day, a lifetime of learning and personal development and to the growth and development of the community.
