Background

Downtown Orlando must be a sustainable, highly connected, one-of-a-kind downtown that is brimming with opportunity for all. The physical characteristics of a Downtown are essential to this success and no quality is more important than a walkable environment and a place where people safely and then joyously engage in the civic life of the city.

The City of Orlando proudly announces the development of "The Canopy," a transformative urban park project set to rejuvenate 10 acres beneath the I-4 corridor in Downtown Orlando, spanning approximately five city blocks. This initiative, evolving from the concept formerly known as the Under-I Project, signifies a major leap in the city's efforts to enhance urban living spaces through innovative design and community engagement.
