Construct New Center for Outreach and Engagement

The proposed facility is a new 15,000 square-foot steel frame and brick masonry building with substantial fenestration to allow views through the facility to the water beyond. The facility is comprised of, but not limited to, spaces to support conference/events, seminars, lab/classrooms, offices and catering/demonstration kitchen. It is also VIMS intention to construct a rooftop terrace space for the purposes of events.The COE gives VIMS the opportunity to become a destination hub beyond the field of marine science. It has the space for meeting rooms with views of the York river fit for public officials to host meetings, an auditorium big enough for large lecture series, and a roof terrace for big events.
