Comprehensive Plan

The Village of Waunakee's Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2017 as a joint plan between the Village and the Town of Westport. Since then, the Village has seen a 23% population increase (according to State estimates) through residential development.

The Village of Waunakee is the 5th largest municipality in Dane County by population. It is geographically separated from the Madison Metro area, instead surrounded by unincorporated towns. Waunakee is approximately 80% residential by assessment values.

The Village is soliciting consultants for a reimagined Comprehensive Plan that is Village-specific. The selected consultant shall update the Community Indicators data in a way that is visually appealing and easy to understand. The consultant will also be responsible for updating data used throughout the Plan to inform goals, objectives, and implementation throughout each of the Comprehensive Planning elements required by State statute. The Village is also expecting two sub-area master plans for the West Business District and the eastern gateway entrance to the community.
