Community Outreach Support Specialist

The Montgomery County Council is interested in retaining the services of a qualified contractor to provide community outreach support to a Councilmember’s office. The contractor will play a crucial role as the Councilmember’s point person for all community engagement and outreach functions. This position represents a unique opportunity for an individual to have direct access to the community, where they will meet and interact with community leaders and elected officials across the state.

The contractor will carry out the following tasks under the direction and supervision of the Councilmember’s Chief of Staff. In this role, the contractor must:

● Staff the Councilmember at events in the community, predominantly in the evenings and weekends;
● Represent the Councilmember at events where the Councilmember is unavoidably absent;
● Report back to the Communications Director, Chief of Staff, and the Councilmember with notes, audio, video, and pictures of the events for use in social media and newsletters;
● Arrange and set up community events related to Council work hosted by the Councilmember and;
● Prepare talking points and share remarks for events on occasion.
