I. SCOPE OF SOLICITATION
Clemson University’s Machining and Technical Services department is seeking bids for
purchase of a three axis CNC milling machine with a capability of an “A” axis being
connected later.
This will be a onetime purchase and will be awarded to one Offeror that is responsive,
responsible.
The bid will be awarded based on the specifications listed in section III. The vendor must be
able to meet or exceed all these requirements. Truman Nicholson of Machining and
Technical Services will be the contact at Clemson. The machine must be installed in the
Machining and Technical Services department at Clemson University, B-1 Freeman Hall,
211 Fernow Street, Clemson, SC 29634 and operable by June 15th, 2024.
II. INSTRUCTIONS TO OFFERORS
Regardless of specific requirements below or in this document, Offerors are required to submit
their proposal electronically through the Clemson University online bidding system. To do so
you must login (registering first) at https://clemson.ionwave.net/login, and follow specific
instructions for this solicitation. You should register several days in advance of the bid closing
date so you can be approved and login in time to submit a response.
1. INFORMATION FOR OFFERORS TO SUBMIT - In addition to information requested
elsewhere in this solicitation, Offerors should submit the following information for purposes of
evaluation:
• Written quotation
o Price for Machine, Rigging and Installation, and Shipping must also be
entered in the online bid system line items.
o Do not include sales tax in pricing; if applicable, sales tax will be
applied to PO.
• Equipment literature, specifications
• Vendor must provide documentation that shows machine footprint and operating
space requirements.

2. The successful Offeror shall provide satisfactory evidence of all required insurance coverage
and licenses PRIOR TO PERFORMANCE.
3. Deadline for questions: Questions shall be submitted in the online bidding system under the
Questions tab. Answers will be posted as an Addendum in the online system following the
deadline date. All Offerors are charged with a duty to inquire. Submitting an Offer represents
that the offeror has read and understands the solicitation and that its Offer is made in
compliance with the solicitation. Offerors are expected to examine the solicitation thoroughly
and should request an explanation of any ambiguities, discrepancies, errors, omissions, or
conflicting statements in the Solicitation. Failure to do so will be at the Offeror’s risk.
4. Supplier Registration: If you are not currently an ACTIVE supplier in Clemson University’s
buyWays system and you are awarded a bid, you agree to complete your new supplier
registration within three business days of receiving an email invitation to register. Registration
will require you to provide information about your company and to receive electronic payment
through the use of PayMode, except that international suppliers will be paid through wire

III. SCOPE OF WORK / SPECIFICATIONS: Equipment must meet or exceed minimum
machine specifications listed in this section.
Minimum Machine Requirements
• 12,000 RPM Inline direct drive CAT 40 spindle with duty cycle of 4 hours @ 12,000
RPM with no load
• 30 HP spindle with torque rating of 90 ft-Ibf @2000 RPM
• Machine travel of 30”x20”x20” (X, Y, &Z)
• 4th axis wiring/drives installed and ready to allow for rotary axis to be attached.
This requirement must allow third party rotary tables to be connected.
• .626 in T-slot width
• T-slots in the X and Y direction
• Table operating weight of 2,800lbs
• Maximum spindle nose to table 4.0” distance
• Side mount tool changer 30 tool capacity plus one tool in the spindle.

• Onsite training for up to 8 people or remote training within 150 miles
• Access to all training and service manuals
Shipping, rigging, and installation.
• Shipping from the manufacturer to Clemson University, Machining and Technical services
department to be provided by vendor.
• Vendor to provide rigging by a reputable and bonded rigger.
• Some current MTS equipment will need to be moved by the rigger to allow new
equipment to be put in place for install.
• Installation to be done by vendor employees.
• New machine must fit thru 84.5” wide opening and under 103” height.
• Machine must operate in an area 11’ x 11’(approximate)with a max height of 119.”
• Machine must be installed and operable by June 15th, 2024.
• All rigging and installation of work done by vendors should be done Monday
through Friday.
• All equipment, kits and instruction manuals must be provided upon delivery.
Clemson University responsibilities
• Supply electrical drop and compressed air.
• Provide adequate location for equipment to operate
• Provide adequate access to location of install (may include removing door frame)
