ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID

Sealed bids for furnishing all materials, labor, tools, skills, equipment, and miscellaneous items necessary for the construction of the CLEARWATER DRIVE AREA WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS located in Cobb County, Georgia will be received by the BOARD OF LIGHTS AND WATER , a subsidiary corporation of the CITY OF MARIETTA, GEORGIA,herein referred to as the Owner, at the Purchasing Division, Marietta City Hall, 205 Lawrence Street, Marietta, GA 30060 until:

Friday, April 26, 2019, 10:00 A.M., Local Time

Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at this time and location. Bids received after said time and date will not be considered by Owner and will be returned unopened.

The approximate extent and character of the Work is generally described as follows:

The installation of approximately 5,600 linear feet of 8” diameter DIP water main within Cobb County, Georgia along portions of Clearwater Drive, Acres Drive, Hazelwood Drive, and Yancey Drive via open trench, open cut, jack and bore, and free bore installation methods. Project also includes the installation of valves, hydrants, and other miscellaneous water main appurtenances. The abandonment of the existing 6” diameter CIP water main is also part of the project.

Bidders shall inform themselves concerning Georgia Laws and comply with same. NOTE: The Contractors Affidavit for Electronic Verification of Work Authorization Programs form (E-Verify) shall be executed and submitted as part of the bid package. Contractor’s Bid will be considered non-responsive without conformance to E-Verify requirements.

Bidding Documents are available for review and purchase by prospective Bidders. Bidding Documents may be obtained for a non-refundable fee of $100.00 , payable by check or money order at the offices of the Engineer, Rindt-McDuff Associates, Inc., 334 Cherokee Street, Marietta, Georgia, 30060, 770-427-8123. The check or money order shall be made payable to Rindt-McDuff Associates, Inc. The Owner is not obligated to consider a Bidder’s proposal, if Bidder is not on record with the Issuing Office as having received complete Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office.

The time allowed for Substantial Completion from the date of Notice to Proceed is 120 consecutive calendar days. The project has a maximum time for total completion which shall not exceed 150 consecutive calendar days from the starting date specified in the Notice to Proceed.

Each Bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond with good and sufficient surety or sureties approved by the Owner for faithful acceptance of the contract, payable to, in favor of, and for the protection of the Owner in an amount equivalent to five percent (5%) of the total amount payable by the terms of the Contract or, in lieu thereof, in the form of a certified check, cashier’s check, or cash in equal amount.

The Successful Bidder will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds with the executed Agreement meeting the requirements of the Contract Documents and executed on the forms attached to the Agreement. The terms and time for payment are set forth in the Agreement.

Surety and insurance companies must be listed in the Federal Registry of Insurance Companies Circular 570, holding Certificates of Authority and Acceptable Sureties on Federal Bonds, be licensed by the Georgia Insurance Department and the Georgia Secretary of State to do business in the State of Georgia.

All Bids will remain subject to acceptance for 60 days after the day of the Bid Opening, but Owner may, in its sole discretion, release any Bid and return the Bid security prior to that date.

Each bid must be submitted in a SEALED ENVELOPE , addressed to the Owner.  Each sealed envelope containing a Bid must be plainly marked on the outside as, “Clearwater Drive Area Water System Improvements” . If bid is forwarded by mail, the sealed envelope containing the Bid must be enclosed in a separate mailing envelope to the attention of the Purchasing Manager at the address previously given.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, to waive formalities, and to re-advertise.
