Project Description: The City of Olathe, Environmental Services Division is soliciting qualifications from contractors to provide comprehensive tank, tower, and basin cleaning services to support water and wastewater operations. This work will uphold public health standards, prevent contamination, extend infrastructure lifespan, and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards.
The selected vendor will deliver safe, efficient, and compliant cleaning of water storage tanks and towers, chemical tanks, lime softening and clarification basins, and pump station wet wells to support Olathe Water Production operations. Disinfection of water storage tanks, towers, and wet wells shall be in accordance with AWWA standard C652 for disinfecting water storage facilities. The vendor will also provide safe, efficient, and compliant cleaning of chemical tanks, and wastewater basins and tanks to Olathe Wastewater Treatment operations.
Primary needs include routine spring and fall cleaning of three water softening/clarification basins at the Olathe Water Plant. Scheduled cleaning and disinfection of water storage tanks, towers, and wet wells will occur less frequently, though rapid or emergency responses may be required in certain instances. Wastewater treatment needs will typically be scheduled in advance but could also necessitate rapid or emergency responses.
Chemical tanks may have sodium hypochlorite, ferrous chloride, ferric chloride, hydrochloric acid, sodium chlorite, ammonia, fluorosilicic acid, or polymer residue remaining prior to cleaning.
