The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a service provider for professional crossing guard services. The City's Crossing Guard Program aims to aid school-aged children and pedestrians as they traverse roadways to and from local schools. The selected service provider will be responsible for managing and supplying qualified personnel to effectively carry out these duties.
The scope of work outlines the expectations and guidelines necessary for successful school crossing guard services at specific locations throughout the City of Thousand Oaks.
Proposers must comply with all specifications and provide comprehensive plans for service delivery and management to be considered for the award of this contract.
Proposers shall provide an hourly rate and all necessary equipment costs. All additional services shall be provided at the hourly rate, with the length of time for each task to be negotiated in advance prior to the commencement of work.
The contract will be for three and a half (3.5) years with two (2) one-year (1-year) options to extend.
The City of Thousand Oaks is located in eastern Ventura County and consists of 56 square miles. The City population is approximately 122,000. The City is a general law city operating under the Council/Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of five members elected through district-based elections, with one member serving as Mayor on an annual basis.
The City’s Crossing Guard Program currently includes fourteen (14) active crosswalks servicing nine (9) elementary schools, one (1) combined school, and four (4) middle schools. Four (4) schools have multiple crosswalks. The crosswalks are located throughout the City, including areas in Newbury Park and Westlake. It is essential that these crosswalks have adequate coverage during school operating hours, based on the needs of each school location, in consultation with the Conejo Valley Unified School District and approved by the City’s Program Manager. The number and location of crosswalks will vary throughout the life of the contract, as well as the number of hours per school day that each crosswalk will need to be covered.
