City of Newton 1st Avenue Signal Improvements Project

NOTICE TO BIDDERS

CITY OF NEWTON, IOWA PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Sealed bids for the work comprising the improvement as stated below must be filed before 11:00 am on January 7 ^th , 2025, in the office of the Public Works Director, 303 W 4 ^th St N, Suite 501, Newton, IA  50208.

Sealed proposals will be opened and bids tabulated at 11:00 am on January 7 ^th , 2025; in the Public Works Office, 303 W 4 ^th St N, Suite 501, Newton, IA 50208 for consideration by the Newton City Council at its meeting on January 20 ^th , 2025; at the Newton City Council Chambers.  The City of Newton reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

Contractor shall fully complete the project on or before September 30 ^th , 2025.  Should the contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $500.00 per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract term.

The City of Newton does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the jurisdiction.

Copies of the contract bid documents and plans are available at no cost from the City of Newton Public Works Office, 303 W 4 ^th St N, Suite 501, Newton, IA 50208.

General Nature of the Public Improvement:

1 ^st Avenue (Highway 6) Signal Improvements Project

1 ^st Avenue (Highway 6) Signal Project consists of the installation of new traffic signal video detection, pedestrian equipment, and cabinet equipment upgrades at 1 ^st Avenue and E 8 ^th Street, E 12 ^th Street, E 14 ^th Street, E 17 ^th Street and E 23 ^rd Street.
