This PRE-SOLICITATION is for W9128F26QA016.
On or about 13 March 2026, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District intends to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) solicitation for “Cherry Creek Dam Gate Stem Rehab”. The solicitation will close on or about 31 March 2026 by 2:00 PM CT.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This contract encompasses the rehabilitation of Service Gate Stems No. 2 (Base Bid), and No. 5 (Bid Option) located at Cherry Creek Dam in Aurora, Colorado. The subsequent sections and Attachment A (Annotated As built) delineate the detailed scope of work to be executed following the disassembly of each hydraulic cylinder in accordance with the terms of this service contract.
- Refurbish the cylinder rods (gate stems) and automatic gate hanger cylinder rods by cleaning, removing heavy mineral buildup and pitting, polishing, measuring, and re-chroming at the contractor’s off-site facility.
- Lightly hone the inner wall of the cylinder to remove minor scoring and obtain smooth surface.
- Clean and inspect the piston rings and prepare an inspection report (the inspection report shall be prepared, including photographs of the cleaned items and documentation of their overall condition. If any conditions require repair or replacement, the report shall clearly specify the necessary work and include all associated costs.).
- Replace oil packing, glands, studs, and nuts in the automatic gate hanger assembly.
- Replace oil packing and glands in the main hydraulic cylinder.
- Replace water packing in the main hydraulic cylinder.
- Replace gate bonnet studs and nuts (replace bonnet gasket if present or replace bonnet seal).
- Replace all hydraulic cylinder gaskets.
- Machine a groove in the existing water packing seat and install new scraper style wiper (replace studs and nuts).
- Replace cap screws (total 28 ea.) on the gate lower stem nut access cover.
It shall be noted that the work specified herein may require the Contractor to mobilize and/or demobilize multiple times over the course of the contract. In certain instances, removal and replacement of ancillary items may be necessary, even if such requirements are not explicitly identified in the Statement of Work (SOW). Furthermore, any action described within the SOW may be adjusted, modified, or omitted based on actual site conditions, with prior authorization from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
Site Visit:
A Site Visit will be scheduled and additional information regarding the site visit will be provided in the solicitation. Tentative Site Visit will be 10 days after the solicitation is posted on SAM.GOV.
