WATER SERVICE LINE INVENTORY POTHOLING
Chassell Township (Owner) is requesting Bids for the construction of the following Project:
Water Service Line Inventory Potholing
C05-19299
Bids for the construction of the Project will be received by Chassell Township, at the office of U.P.
Engineers & Architects, 100 Portage Street, Houghton, MI 49931 until 1:00 PM local time on
Wednesday, April 3, 2024. At that time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read.
The Project includes the following Work:
Utility pot holing via vacuum extraction for purposes of determining water service
and main material types on the house and street sides of the existing curb stops, as
well as verification of material type at the meter inside the homes and businesses for
a random sampling of water service throughout the Chassell Township service area.
Also includes asphalt, concrete, and landscape restoration of excavated areas.
Bids are requested for the following single prime Contract: Chassell Township Water Service Line
Inventory Potholing
OBTAINING THE BIDDING DOCUMENTS
The Issuing Office for the Bidding Documents is: U.P. Engineers & Architects, Inc., 100 Portage Street,
Houghton, MI 49931, (906) 482-4810, Chris Holmes, P.E., cholmes@upea.com
Prospective Bidders may obtain or examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Monday
through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Eastern time and may obtain copies of the
Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office as described below. Partial sets of Bidding Documents will
not be available from the Issuing Office. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or
partial sets of Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the
Issuing Office.
Bidding documents also may be examined at the following Builder Exchanges: Delta County, Iron
Mountain, Marquette, Lansing, McGraw -Hill Dodge, and Construction Association of Michigan; and
the office of KI Sawyer at 125 G Avenue, Gwinn, MI 49841, on Mondays through Fridays between the
hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Builder Exchanges are authorized to share the contract documents with
other exchanges.
Printed copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office by paying a $100.00
non-refundable handling fee for each set of contract documents. Alternatively, bidding documents are
available as portable document format [PDF] files for a non-refundable charge of $50.00. Make
deposit checks for Bidding Documents payable to U.P. Engineers & Architects, Inc.

PRE-BID CONFERENCE
A pre-bid conference for the Project will be held on Wednesday March 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM Eastern
time at the Chassell Township Fire Hall located at 22115 Seventh Street, Chassell, Michigan 49916.
Attendance at the pre-bid conference is encouraged but not required.
Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. The Bid Bond or
certified check payable to Owner shall be in an amount no less than 5% of the maximum bid as a
guarantee, that if the Bid is accepted, the Bidder will execute and file the Contract, Performance and
Payment Bonds, and Insurance Certification, as required by the Contract Documents within (10) days
after the Notice of Award.
The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids.
INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS
For all further requirements regarding bid submittal, qualifications, procedures, and contract award,
refer to the Instructions to Bidders that are included in the Bidding Documents.
FUNDING
Financing for this project is being provided by the Owner, Chassell Township. Davis Bacon wage rates
are NOT required for this project.
