Capital Project Design for the Lake County Coroner and Lake County Sheriff's Office

Lake County intends to enter into a contract with a qualified architectural/engineering firm to provide comprehensive design services for the proposed expansion and rework of the Muti-Department Storage Facility located at 646 W. Winchester Rd, Libertyville, IL. Rework of the existing interior spaces could be limited to Facilities and Construction Service Dept Maintenance office and Garage space. The expansion is anticipated to include 50,000 square feet for the Sheriff’s Office, 15,000 square feet for the Coroner’s Office, and 30,000 square feet to support the County Clerks’ warehouse and election operations with other Dept needs. It is anticipated that the facility will a predominately be a single store tilt-up construction structure. Sheriff’s Office program elements include the following functions; Administrative Command, Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Warrants, Records, Civil Process, Community Service, Training, Communications/Dispatch, and impound lot storage. The Coroner’s Office program elements include the following functions; morgue operational space, administrative offices, enclosed sallyport, and dignified spaces for meeting, viewing and support. The County Clerk’s function will include warehouse program elements will include administrative office and meeting space, County Clerk election material storage, controlled environment vote-by-mail space, and warehouse storage space. Additionally, the design will include geothermal heating/cooling, solar photovoltaic panel integration on roof, force protection and security, and secure parking.
