Title: Call for Artist Portfolios - Elections Center Mural Project
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 12/4/2024
Due Date: 2/3/2025
Pierce County (hereafter known as 'the County') seeks portfolio submissions from individual artists or a team of artists to be considered for the creation of a large-scale mural at the Pierce County Elections Center located west of the Pierce County Annex building. The mural will visually connect community members from the street scape toward the entrance of the Pierce County Elections Center and serve as a welcoming emblem for all who want to participate in the electoral process. This project is funded through Pierce County’s 1% for Arts Program.
The mural will be housed at the Annex West Facility located at 2501 S. 35th Street Tacoma, WA. This building is home to the Pierce County Elections Center, General Services, and Department of Emergency Management. The Election Center is the official voting and ballot processing center for Pierce County. Though many elections transactions now happen online or over the phone, people needing in-person services can come to the Election Center to register to vote, get a ballot and vote, and get a voter’s pamphlet and other elections materials. The Election Center offers disability assistance including large font, color, contrast, and audible ballot options.
The mission of the 1% for Arts Program is to increase access to the arts for all Pierce County residents through a legacy of publicly held artwork located in county-owned or county-leased facilities.
