Project Description	Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a lump sum contract from prequalified bidders are invited for the following work: The Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGOSM) proposes to replace an obsolete steam autoclave with an electric dry heat sterilizer for mice cages in Room B-64 of the Biomedical Sciences Research Building (BSRB). The total project area is approximately 1,666 asf (1,998 gsf). BSRB is a 134,753 gsf (90,557 asf) six-story building, plus a basement level, constructed in 2007. BSRB houses DLAM’s Breeding Colony Management Program, which maintains approximately 7,800 mice cages. The scope of work includes the removal of the existing decommissioned steam autoclave and associated steam pipes; upgrades to the building’s electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems; provision of an electric dry heat sterilizer; and seismic anchorage, fire/life safety, and accessibility improvements. The estimated construction cost is $2,180,746.
