The work for the BLAKE STREET AND ISLAND AVENUE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT shall consist of, but not be limited to, the complete and satisfactory construction of installation of:
Water Main
- 20 LF of 14” Dia. DI Water Main
- 30 LF of 12” Dia. DI Water Main
- 2,200 LF of 8” Dia. DI Water Main
- 280 LF 8” DR11 HDPE Water Main (Pipebursting)
- 360 LF 2” Fusible HDPE Water Main
- 500 LF Water Services (up to 1”)
- 20 LF Water Services (1 ¼” to 2”)
- 220 Water Services (2” to 6”)
- 1,400 SY 2” Rigid Insulation
- 3 EA Hydrant Installations
- 2 EA Insertion & Receiving Pits
- 2 EA Cut In & Install 8” Tee & Valve
- 1 EA Cut In & Install 12” Tee & Valve
- 1 LS Canal Utility Bridge Removal (Incl. 24” CI Main Removal)
- 1 LS Furnish & Install Temporary Water Services (Blake St. Pipebursting)
Stormdrain & Sewer
- 90 LF 8” Solid Pipe (SDR35 PVC or HP Storm)
- 1 Sewer Spot Repair (up to 10-ft)
Site/Paving
- 400 Ton of Hand-Placed HMA
- 3,800 SY of Pavement Removal
- 25 EA Test Pit - 800 CY Aggregate Base
- 1,600 CY Aggregate Subbase
- 300 CY Rock Excavation
- 600 SY Loam, Seed & Mulch
- 1 EA Fence & Playground Restoration
- 3,800 SY Fine Grading - Street
Work within Blake Street will include water main replacement from Oak Street to Birch Street. Ancillary work within Bates Street includes a sewer main spot repair & separation of combined storm-sewer infrastructure at Oak Street. Work within Island Avenue will include water main replacement from Main Street to the dead-end service at #38 Island Avenue. Pavement disturbed during construction will be subsequently repaved to widths specified in Division 10 “Measurement & Payment.” Coordination with the Water District for requisite water main shut-downs will be required.

No Proposal will be considered unless it is accompanied by a bid security in the form of a bid bond or certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price, made out in favor of the City of Lewiston. All bid securities will be released upon deliverance of a signed Contract or, if no Contract award is made, within forty-five (45) days after the opening of the Proposals, unless forfeited as herein stipulated.
A Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, preferably executed on AIA Bond Form Number A311, in an amount equal to the total Contract price, of a surety company satisfactory to the Purchasing Agent, will be required of the successful bidder to ensure completion of the work and the proper fulfillment of the conditions of the Contract. The total Contract price shall mean the total bid price as stated in the Proposal based on the estimated quantities of the various items of work.
