Supplemental Information – Bid Submittal & Opening
The City of Danbury (“the City”) will receive bids for this item up until 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 via the U.S.
Postal Service, a private carrier/delivery service. Vendors may also drop off their bid in person on the solicitation due date
between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. in the main lobby area of City Hall. Please be aware to due the Covid-19
health emergency the U.S. mail and deliveries from private carriers/delivery services are not always received by the
Purchasing Department on a daily basis. Therefore, any prospective bidder submitting a bid response is encouraged to
notify Charles Volpe, Purchasing Agent, via email at c.volpe@danbury-ct.gov, or by cell phone at (203) 460-0085, that a
bid response has been submitted by U.S. mail, or by a private carrier/delivery service. A bin will be available for the filing
of bid submissions in person, in the lobby of City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, CT, between the hours of 8:30 a.m.
until 10:00 a.m. on the solicitation due date.
During this public health emergency, the Purchasing Agent will open all bid responses virtually. The bid opening will be
made available for view by the public via Zoom, at the time and date specified in the bid. Zoom video and/or audio

PROPOSAL
Pursuant to and in accordance with the Invitation to Bid, Instructions to Bidders, and Scope of Work relating thereto, the
undersigned proposes to provide all materials necessary to construct a floating dock for the newly purchased Danbury
Fire Dept. boat.
Requirement
The City of Danbury is looking to build a floating dock for its new Emergency Services Boat. This bid is for materials only
for the purpose of constructing two (2) eight (8’) foot wide x twenty (20’) foot long dock sections. The dock sections are to
be of galvanized steel truss construction and serviced by a four (4’) foot wide by fifteen (15’) long aluminum gangway with
handrail. The dock is to be anchored to a sea wall by means of a 15’ long stiff-arm system. Bid must contain all parts and
hardware to construct this dock configuration and mounting system – excluding only the wood decking. Prices quoted
shall be F.O.B. Danbury, CT and include off-loading at delivery site.
Galvanized steel truss specifications:
1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 3/16" steel angle separated by 1/2" diagonal round bar
Flat bar gussets in the corners
Pre-punched holes along edges for mounting hardware
Mitered and seam welded corners
Trusses will be twelve (12”) tall
Aluminum gangway specifications:

6063 – T5 grade aluminum
Stainless fasteners
Non – Skid aluminum decking. Decking material shall be interlocking 1”x6” slip-resistant, “knurled”, extruded
aluminum.
Gangway must be double hinged on the shore side and dock side
A 6000 series tempered aluminum piano hinge shall be used as the mounting bracket with a 1 1⁄2” sch. 40
removable pin for easy installation and removal.
The handrail must be able to withstand a transverse concentrated load of at least 250lbs.
The gangway must be able to withstand a distributed load of 100 lb/ft2 under combined loading conditions up to
30’
Hardware specifications:
Hardware will be of a minimum of 1/4" x 5" steel
Hardware will use 1/2" carriage bolts
Inside corners will have a mitered gusset for strength,
Male corners will use two (2) 3/4" connecting tabs
Female corners will use three (3) ½” connecting tabs

Floatation specifications:
Floatation castings must be rotational-molded construction of virgin grade polyethylene
Exterior shell must be a minimum of .150” thick
The casing will be filled with CFC/HCFC free expanded polystyrene
Floats shall have molded in mounting slots on the top of the float edges
Floats must have an estimated freeboard of 21”(+/-2”)
Floats must carry a minimum 15-year warranty/ first 10 years non prorated
Floatation adjustments will be made to account for the weight of the gang way
Prices quoted shall be F.O.B. Danbury, CT and include off-loading at delivery site.
