Project Description: The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) invites firms pre-qualified on the 2021 Transportation Engineering and Planning Services Bench (Bench) in any one or more of the following service categories to apply for the following project: 1. Category A. Freeway Operations, Data Analytics and Performance Assessments, 2. Category B. Connected and Automated Vehicles, Traffic Sensors, and Other Advanced Technologies 3. Category C. Arterial Operations 4. Category E. Transit Planning and Engineering
MTC is seeking to hire a Consultant team to conduct an initial feasibility study to examine the current state of the vehicle detection system (VDS) implemented in the Bay Area on an example corridor (US-101 in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties) and the challenges to maintain existing detectors. The study should assess detection needs for Caltrans and partner agencies as well as opportunities for the use of other detector technologies. Consultant shall then demonstrate and assist in the evaluation or potential technologies for further implementation. Example technologies for consideration could include Radar, LiDAR, and video. The project will be managed by MTC in close partnership with Caltrans D4.
