Belltower Restoration

Restore a historic bell tower of a church built in 1849. This includes removing wood louvers, removing the historic 1848 bell, installing aluminum louvers, restoring the bell and its heavy timber support frame, reinstalling the same in the restored belfry. Revise and reconstruct the belfry platform; install new framing and floor; eliminate the belfry attic level. Install steel framing, metal decking, roofing, and scupper to exterior downspout. Install ladder and roof hatch. Demolish, abate and remove existing built-up roofing, concrete roof slab and steel framing. A major part of the project is the restoration of the original limestone masonry using NHL lime mortar. Replace damaged ceiling and flooring in the sanctuary lobby (bell tower entrance). Repaint entry lobby and rear wall of sanctuary; spot re-stain door surround into the entry lobby. Abate and reapply silicone sealant joints at window and door perimeters. Apart from the bell tower, deconstruct the south turret, devise an appropriate replacement support structure using original stones, rebuild the south brick wall of this turret. At the north and west facades of the church, restore the wooden verge boards (scrape, prime, paint).
