DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT

Foot insensitivity is more common in American Indians/Alaska Natives (AI/AN) people. There is a disproportionate number of disparities surrounding neuropathy from chronic diseases such as diabetes and peripheral neuropathy diseases among AI/AN people. Assessment of sensation in the feet and lower extremities is key to the prevention and intervention of debilitating foot ulcers and subsequent toe, foot and lower extremity amputations. Monofilaments are an assessment tool used by multiple levels of providers to assess patients for foot neuropathy. As such, the Indian Health Service’s Office of Clinical and Preventive Services, Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention, seeks 5.07 baseline tactile disposable ADA/LEAP/LOPS monofilaments that measure 10 grams of pressure typically sold in packs (quantity) of 20 or 40. For ease of distribution, the Program Office is seeking packs of 20.
