“BARE MEADOW TREE TRIMMING AND RELATED WORK” Contract No. 25-09
The Town of Reading is accepting sealed bids for the cutting and/or removal of trees, and associated work, in the Bare Meadow Conservation Area. The work under this contract consists of the removal of trees as shown on the Bare Meadow tree thinning plan, marked with orange paint, the removal of whips and slash within the work area, selective safety pruning and deadwood cutting, removal of existing ground debris, flushed cutting stumps, grinding cut trees into wood chips to be left on-site in piles around the perimeter of the work area as shown on Bare Meadow tree thinning plan.
Sealed Bids for the Town of Reading, Massachusetts, BARE MEADOW TREE TRIMMING AND RELATED WORK, will be received by the Town Clerk’s Office, Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA 01867 until November 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM and at that time and place, the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

A pre-bid optional site walk will occur at 9:00AM on November 14 2024 at Bare Meadow Conservation Area. All interested parties should meet at Bare Meadow parking lot 721 Pearl St.
Each Bid shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and shall be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the amount Bid. The successful Bidder must furnish a Labor and Materials Payment Bond (for 50% of the contract value) satisfactory in form to the Town, from a surety authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and acceptable to the Town.
The Town of Reading where applicable under M.G.L, is required to make the appropriate ‘Price Adjustments’ to Town Projects funded by State Appropriation Programs (i.e.: Ch. 90 disbursements).
Complete instructions for filing Bids are included in the Instructions to Bidders. Wage rates for this project are subject to the minimum wage rates as per M.G.L., Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27H inclusive, as amended. The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 30, Section 39M, as amended.
Bids shall be awarded to the responsible and eligible bidder offering the highest price for lumber and or the lowest cost to the Town of Reading for completing this project. The Town of Reading reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any and all bids, for any reason the Town Manager determines to be in the Town's and/or the public's best interest.
