Description:

The Town of Amherst, Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from General Contractors and filed sub bidders for the Bangs Community Center Renovation Project in Amherst, MA, in accordance with the documents prepared by edmSTUDIO. This Project consists of a phased interior renovation focused on upgrading building systems, enhancing life safety, and improving accessibility. The scope includes replacing existing rooftop HVAC units (RTUs), installing new Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, and upgrading thermostats to improve energy efficiency and climate control. A full automatic sprinkler system will be installed throughout the building to meet current fire protection standards, along with a new code-compliant fire alarm system. ADA-related improvements will be made to ensure accessible paths of travel and compliance with current accessibility requirements. The project may also involve the reconfiguration of certain interior spaces, including the possible relocation of program areas and the addition of new restrooms to support revised functional needs.

Qualifications:

General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work -- General Building Construction and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime Update Statement. General Bids will be received until September 16th, 2025 at 2:00pm and publicly opened, forthwith online. Filed Sub-bids for the following trades (Masonry; Miscellaneous and Ornamental Iron; Roofing and Flashing; Tile; Acoustical Tile; Resilient Floors; Painting; Fire Protection; Plumbing; Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning; and Electrical) will be received until August 28th, 2025 at 2:00pm and publicly opened, forthwith online. Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed and bidders must include a current DCAMM Sub-Bidder Certificate of Eligibility and a signed DCAMM Sub-Bidder’s Update Statement.
