Description: The New York City Department of Education (“DOE”) requests on behalf of the Division of the Office of Occupational Safety and Health to release a Best Value Request for Bid (RFB) seek qualifies and licensed vendors to provide comprehensive medical waste collection, transportation, and disposal services across school facilities citywide, services will support school-based health centers, and nursing offices.
The selected vendor shall supply all labor, materials, equipment, and transportation necessary to manage medical waste in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) requirements.
Collection and pick-up are scheduled, and on-demand pick-ups from designated NYCPS schools and administrative locations. Regularly scheduled service frequencies may vary depending on each site’s needs. Pick-up of all regulated medical waste, such as Sharps and needles, Biohazardous waste, and Replacement of containers as needed to ensure continuous safe storage.
Vendor shall supply compliant containers, including rigid sharps containers, red biohazard bags, and approved containers, and ensure all containers meet NYC, NYS, and federal standards for medical waste packaging, labeling, and tracking.
Vendor must maintain all required permits, certifications, and insurance; provide a manifest for all waste collected with electronic copies delivered to NYCPS, and also maintain compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards, DOT hazard materials regulations, and NYC Health Department requirements.
