The City of Athens is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the installation of two pole buildings, a foundation for a prefabricated public safety training facility, an access road, and associated water, sewer, and storm utilities. The project will be bid as “Contract 1” for the buildings, and “Contract 2” for the site work. The Architects opinion of probable cost for “Contract 1” is $1,366,256.13. The Engineer’s opinion of probable cost for “Contract 2” is $1,844,251. Bidders may submit a bid for either or both contracts. The city will award the project to the lowest and best combination of bids for “Contract 1” and “Contract 2.”
Sealed Bids for the ATHENS REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER & KENNY DRIVE EXTENSION PROJECT for the City of Athens, Ohio will be received by the City of Athens, Ohio, at the City Building, 8 East Washington Street, until 3:00 P.M on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025. At that time and place, they will be publicly opened and read aloud. All bids will be considered valid until 60 days after the opening date, although not accepted or rejected.
The work for which proposals are invited includes the furnishing of all labor, materials and equipment for the construction of all necessary buildings, foundations, roads, water lines, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, curbs, sidewalks and all other associated construction.
Each bid shall contain the full name and address of each person or company interested in the same. It shall be accompanied by a proposal bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the bid, or by a certified check, cashier's check or irrevocable letter of credit for ten percent (10%) of the bid, made payable to the City of Athens, Ohio, conditioned that if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into within thirty (30) days after notice of acceptance. A performance bond of one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the contract with a satisfactory surety company, conditioned according to law, will be required for the faithful performance of the contract.
The “Prime” contractor must perform no less than thirty percent (30%) of the total original contract price. The work shall commence upon written notice of award by the City of Athens.
The Contractor must comply with the Prevailing Wage Rates on public improvements in Athens County as ascertained by the State of Ohio Department of Industrial Relations.
The City of Athens reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive informalities as may be in its best interest.
