Architectural Services at City Hall

The Woodstock City Hall building is located at 121 W. Calhoun Street, Woodstock, IL 60098. The

building was originally opened in 1906 and served as a high school. It was transitioned to a junior high in

1922 and in 1960 the building was converted into the McHenry County Courthouse Annex. The City of

Woodstock purchased the property in 1972 to utilize as City Hall. The facility is home to the following

City Departments: City Manager’s Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, Building &

Planning, Code Enforcement, Finance & Utility Billing, Economic Development, and Marketing. The

City Council Chambers are also housed within this facility. There are currently three available

conference rooms and one small break room. There are restrooms located in the basement, public

restrooms on the first floor, and no restrooms on the second floor. Also, located in the basement is the IT

Department and the City’s data center.

The City is seeking the interest of qualified architectural firms with experience in historic buildings that

can assist in assessing the spaces within the facility and then developing architectural plans to renovate

and remodel City Hall in order to better maximize space, provide better security for employees, and

enhance user experiences and operations.

The City of Woodstock (the “City”), acting by and through the Public Works Department, is soliciting

Statements of Interest and Qualifications from qualified firms to provide comprehensive architectural

services to assist the City in performing planning, designing, remodeling, and construction projects. The

firm selected shall have the primary responsibility for execution of the planning, design, construction

documentation, and construction administration phases of the project.
