Summary
The City of Aurora is seeking qualified contractors/vendors for the purchase and installation of a new animal crematorium/incinerator at Aurora Animal Care and Control. The new unit will replace the shelter’s existing aging equipment and will be used for the safe, efficient, and reliable cremation of deceased animals and wildlife handled through Animal Control operations.
The project will include furnishing the crematorium/incinerator, delivery, installation, and all necessary components required for a complete and operational system that meets applicable local, state, and environmental requirements.
Background
Aurora Animal Care and Control currently operates an animal crematorium that is more than 20 years old. Due to the age of the equipment, the unit has experienced increasing maintenance and reliability concerns, and replacement parts and service have become difficult to obtain. The crematorium is an important part of daily shelter operations and is used for deceased shelter animals as well as wildlife collected by Animal Control Officers, including larger animals such as deer. A reliable replacement unit is necessary to ensure these operations can continue safely and efficiently with minimal downtime. The City is seeking a durable, appropriately sized system that will meet the current and future operational needs of Aurora Animal Care and Control. Vendors are encouraged to evaluate the existing site and recommend equipment and installation solutions that provide long-term reliability, serviceability, and efficiency.
