The U.S. Coast Guard intends to purchase and install 3 modern generator sets to replace aging assets in service on board CGC Alex Haley. The existing generator sets are (quantity 4) 300 kW machines of an obsolete design, which is currently not well-supported. New generator sets will need to fit and be adapted during install to the existing fuel, exhaust, and cooling systems. A quantity of 3 new generator sets is requested at a minimum capacity of 350 kW per generator, reliability and supportability will be an important factor for the proposal to be developed.

The CGC Alex Haley (WMEC-39) is homeported in Kodiak, AK 99619. The CGC Alex Haley is 282 feet long, 59 feet wide, drafts 17 feet (at full load), and weighs 2,592 long tons (at full load).
