Airport Remote Parking Lot Construction

The objective of this project is to provide a 856 space remote parking lot located southwest of the intersection of Marquette Ave and Sipes Ave. This project shall include clearing and grubbing of the existing site, topographic survey of the cleared and grubbed project area for volumetric quantity verification, bulk earth moving and import of fill material, site grading, underground utility installations, drainage infrastructure installations, parking lot pavement section construction, stormwater conveyance and construction of dry retention facilities, parking lot and road striping, signage installation and modifications (wayfinding and monument), access control, security cameras, site lighting, minor roadway modifications to Marquette Ave, pedestrian access accommodations, landscaping and irrigation, installation of a pre-engineered/precast/pre-fabricated bathroom facility with covered waiting area, and the installation of a pre-engineered revenue control canopy complete with revenue control stations and gate control for entry, exit, and bus access. This project will be bid as a base bid with two (2) bid alternates.

The base bid shall include all clearing and grubbing services, all site earthwork and earth moving, all stormwater conveyance infrastructure and stormwater treatment basins, the first 375 parking spaces, and all revenue control, waiting facilities, and the infrastructure necessary to support those facilities. Bid Alternative A shall include an additional 236 parking spaces and the stormwater infrastructure and utility, security and site lighting necessary to support the scope of work. Bid Alternative B shall include the remaining 245 parking spaces and the remaining supporting infrastructure. The bid schedules shall be awarded in the order of Base Bid, Bid Alternative A, and Bid Alternative B. Bid Alternative B shall not be awarded unless Bid Alternative A is awarded and Bid Alternative A shall not be awarded unless the Base Bid is awarded.

The Orlando Sanford International Airport has a need for additional affordable, long-term parking for users during the peak seasons, especially around the holidays. In previous years, the Authority has resorted to parking cars wherever space was readily available, often times outside of traditional parking facilities in order to meet increased demand and the increase in air travel since the pandemic. In order to meet demand and prepare for the upcoming holiday season, the Sanford Airport Authority (SAA) has approved the design and construction of a long-term off-site parking facility on airport property at the southwest corner of Marquette Ave. and Sipes Ave. just southeast of the Runway 36 end.
