ADDENDUM NO. 2
TO THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR
Town of Middlebury
2026 Sidewalk Contract
Your attention is directed to the following changes in, additions to, or deletions from the Contract
Documents for the Town of Middlebury 2026 Sidewalk Contract project. This complete
Addendum, including attachments, shall be included within the Contract Documents and shall
take precedence in the case of any discrepancies.
BIDDER must acknowledge receipt of all ADDENDA on the BID or may be considered non-
responsive.
This Addendum consists of four (4 ) pages.
1. Bid Due Date, Time and Location: CHANGE the bid due date and time to August 10th,
2026, at 1:30pm.
2. Bid Item Descriptions: REMOVE the Bid Item Descriptions in their entirety and ADD the
Bid Item Descriptions as enclosed in this addendum.
3. Bid Schedule: REMOVE the Bid Schedule in its entirety and ADD the Bid Schedule as
enclosed in this addendum.
4. Questions During Bid Phase
QUESTION: How would you like to address the tree roots and areas where subbase
may need to be replaced because of the roots?
ANSWER: Bid item has been added via this addendum. Contractors shall cut the
tree roots and excavate the subbase and replace with 12-inches of
compacted gravel.

Bid Item Descriptions - Contractor shall refer to the technical specifications when selecting
components for installation.
Item 1.0 - Sidewalk
The unit price for this Item shall include the installation of sidewalk and all
associated work as indicated on the Drawings and in the Specifications. The work
for this item includes, but is not limited to, the following:
* Removal of existing sidewalk,
* Saw cutting existing sidewalk,
* Excavation and backfill,
* Shim gravel and compaction,
* Replacement trench patch for roads and driveways,
* Associated earthwork, as previously described,
* Furnishing and installing of concrete sidewalk,
* Furnishing and installing of ADA compliant concrete ramps,
* Furnishing and installing detectable warning surface (truncated domes),
* Complete Restoration of surfaces.
Item 1.1 - Concrete Sidewalk
Payment will be based upon the actual square yards of concrete sidewalk
incorporated in the completed work.
Item 1.2 - Concrete Sidewalk in Driveway
Payment will be based upon the actual square yards of concrete sidewalk in
driveways incorporated in the completed work.
Item 1.3 - Truncated Domes
Payment will be based upon the actual square footage of truncated domes
incorporated in the completed work.
Item 2.0 - Curb
The unit price for this Item shall include the installation of curb and all associated
work as indicated on the Drawings and in the Specifications. The work for this Item
includes, but is not limited to, the following:
* Removal of existing curb in area of proposed curb,
* Saw cutting, adjusting and fitting existing facilities,
* Excavation and backfill,
* Replacement trenchpatch for roads and driveways,
* Concrete base/supports for Granite Curb and Marble Curb,
* Gravel base and subbase,
* Associated earthwork, as previously described,
* Furnishing and installing of curb,
* Complete Restoration of surfaces.
Item 2.1 - Concrete Curb
Payment will be based upon the actual lineal footage of curb incorporated in the
completed work.

Item 2.2- Granite Curb (Remove and Reset)
Payment will be based upon the actual lineal footage of curb incorporated in the
completed work.
Item 3.0 -Sidewalk Subbase
The work of these items shall include the furnishing and installation of gravel
subbase. The work for this Item includes, but is not limited to, the following:
* Excavation and backfill,
* Associated earthwork, as previously described,
* Furnishing, handling, transporting and placing necessary materials,
adding or removing moisture, shaping, grading, placing and compacting
the designated materials,
* Furnishing all labor, tools, equipment and incidentals necessary to
complete the work,
* Saw cutting and removal of tree roots within affected areas,
* Gravel subbase,
* Restoration of surfaces.
Payment will be based on the actual square yardage of sidewalk subbase
installation, as directed by the Owner, to the depth indicated, incorporated in the
completed work. The Owner shall be present during all sidewalk subbase
installation, and quantities and payment items shall be agreed upon with the
Contractor at that time. Measurement shall be based on the square yardage of
the number of affected sidewalk panel replacements, as determined by the
Owner.
