Signature of Contractor and Date
The following statements supersede & supplement the corresponding items in the specifications & drawings:
1. Question: Please confirm removal of the parking lot work is the difference in scope between previous April and a new bid. Please confirm the scope and design of the boardwalk itself remained unchanged. If not please list major differences.
Answer: The parking lot was removed from the bid. The successful bidder will be responsible for all work in the contract documents for this bid.
2. Question: Please confirm $2,000,000 budget estimate in April bid was not the reason for bid cancellation. With parking lot being approximately 10% or less of the bid will contract be still awarded to the responsive bidder if bid is significantly over $2,000,000?
Answer: No, it was not the reason for bid cancellation. Our intent is to contract with the apparent lowest and responsive bidder per the bid documents.
3. Question: Based on the revised drawings there is a new piling penetration required for pilings attached to the roof structures of 25'. Is there an allowance if refusal is met while driving the pilings, adjusting the requirement to less than 25'?
Answer: Per the structural general notes on Sheets S102 and S103 of the signed construction plans, the specified 25'-0" minimum embedment depth applies unless refusal is encountered. The plans define practical refusal as follows:
"20 blows per inch or less than one inch penetration, with the hammer operating at the highest setting determined by the engineer and less than ¼ inches rebound per blow, then pile shall be cut to required height."
Accordingly, if these conditions for refusal are met during driving, the pile may be cut without achieving the full 25 feet of penetration. No additional authorization is required, provided the refusal criteria are documented and satisfied in the field.
In all other respects, the contract documents of which this is an Addendum, and attachments relative thereto, shall remain in full force and effect.
