  • Summary:The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit unsealed proposals from qualified firms to develop an adaptive Community Forest Management Plan (“CFMP”) for Commonwealth of Virginia (“the State”) on behalf of the Town of Abingdon that will foster a sustainable community forest that can tolerate increased pressures from pests, disease, invasive plants climate change and development. The community forest in Abingdon is recognized as an asset for the community. However, with the emerald ash borer infestation many tree-related activities are reactive in nature and lack comprehensive information on the community forest resource and management tools needed to operate an efficient and small community-focused forestry program. The State seeks professional services in the areas of arboriculture, community forestry, geographic information systems (GIS), natural resource management, and community outreach, as well as in other areas of expertise outlined in this RFP.
