The Contractor shall provide all labor, material and equipment necessary to maintain and provide preventive maintenance for REVOLVE R4 Upright & Inverted Capability fluorescence microscope. This microscope and imager will allow all HAMB researchers to detect and capture fluorescent signals from cells, which is critical for a variety of routinely performed experiments such as assessing cell viability, expression of exogenously expressed genes, infection efficiency, localization of and interactions between cellular and viral proteins etc. We often utilize viruses encoding fluorescent genes, and this is an important part of our work. We need to assess the fluorescence of live-virus-infected cells, and it is thus important to have the equipment in our lab. The integrated camera will enable taking high quality images of the cells, so that they can be used for record-keeping and publications in scientific journals.
