PURCHASE DESCRIPTION: Academy of Music Gutter Repairs

The City of Northampton is seeking quotes for the repair and replacement of gutters and downspouts at

the Academy of Music, 274 Main Street, Northampton, MA 01060, as part of a water loss prevention and

mitigation project. The estimated cost of the contract is $49,000.00. This procurement is conducted under

Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149 and includes the requirements outlined below.

The City reserves the right to mix and match the installation of aluminum and copper gutters (e.g., copper

on the front of the building toward Main Street and aluminum on other sides) at its discretion.

Work includes cutting and repairing existing metal decking where necessary, enlarging holes in the

awning to ensure proper attachment, and securely attaching all gutter systems to the building’s existing

structural components. All materials must be weather-resistant and corrosion-proof. Installation must

meet or exceed local building codes and ensure durability and proper water flow for at least 20 years. A

lift will be needed to access all locations on site. Protection to the sidewalk and landscape should be

considered in certain access locations. A site visit to properly quote the proposed work is required.
