PRE-ADVERTISING OF TIMBER SALE LICENCE
A95450 – Sproat-Kanyon – Port Alberni
The Strait of Georgia Business Area of BC Timber Sales is pre-advertising Timber Sale Licence A95450. Formal advertising of this timber sale will occur between December 2024 and March 2025.  This pre-advertising is occurring to allow prospective bidders to view the sale before inclement weather or snow makes the sale inaccessible.  Viewing of this sale now will allow prospective bidders to better prepare a tender when the sale is advertised and tendered.

Harvesting Method:   Grapple and Hoechuck

Safety Considerations:

  • Hazard Alert: Rockfall Hazard has been identified in block F016C4D5.  See Harvest Plan map for locations.
  • Block F016C4D5. Moderate potential for landslide occurrence and high potential fir sluff instability.  Follow reduced rainfall shutdown zone 4 while working in identified area.  See Harvest Plan map for locations.
  • Block F006C3SR.  Loose Rocks and Rockfall potential could be mobilised during harvesting.  Workers need to be made aware of the potential hazard prior to working in these areas.  Workers are to use caution and remain alert while working in these areas.
  • Critical steep grade on KA023 20+716 to 2+784 and 2+811 to 2+866; restrict loads to 52 tonnes.  Under low traction conditions, restrict loads to 50 tonnes.
Road Use Charges:    N/A.   A Road Use Permit will be required.
