Project No. 508-19-112 will correct numerous identified fire/smoke door deficiencies throughout the campus as identified in the 2018 Fire/ Smoke Door Inspections and the FCA listed below to comply with VA Life Safety Measures and NFPA Guidelines. The project location will be in numerous areas throughout Building 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D.
FCA Record # 266596 Bldg. 1B -Panic hardware is not observed at the doors to several exit stairs. Add panic hardware at the doors on paths of egress travel.
FCA Record # 337846 Bldg. 1C -Provide Fire rated doors at the switch gear room on the 3rd floor interstitial space.
FCA Record # 26635 Bldg. 1D - Panic or quick action door hardware is not provided at the doors to the exit stairs. Delayed egress hardware present instead. Add quick action or panic hardware at the doors on paths of egress travel.
The Contractor shall furnish labor and materials and perform work for correction for fire/ smoke doors as identified in the 2018 Fire /Smoke Door Inspections and FCA reports and specifications. Work includes: adjust door within frames to remove gap; replace door and hardware as required; Remove any obstruction to reveal frame label; remove existing non-rated door and replace them with fire / smoke rated doors / frames and hardware. The project shall be conducted in accordance with VA specifications, design guides, design manuals, design alerts, and all applicable codes and regulations. The contractor shall submit all submittals and drawings and schedule for approval prior starting work.
